Meet Ainembabazi Winnie
a devoted and hardworking single mother of four children—three boys and one girl. Life was extremely difficult for her before she joined this program. Each day was a struggle to put food on the table, and she faced the heartbreaking reality of being unable to afford school fees for her children. The burden of raising four young ones on her own, without any stable source of income, weighed heavily on her.
One particularly heartbreaking day, Winnie almost lost her daughter due to severe hunger. It was a terrifying moment that shook her to the core and made it painfully clear just how dire her situation had become. With no resources and no help in sight, her future—and that of her children—seemed uncertain.
Everything began to change when she became part of this program. Through it, we support women like Madam Winnie by offering agricultural loans —not in cash, but in practical, life-changing forms such as seeds, fertilizers, herbicides, and training. These resources equip them to begin or improve their farming activities in a sustainable and effective way.
The training provided is key. It empowers women with the
knowledge and skills needed to use the inputs wisely,
adopt better farming practices, and make the most of
their land. As a result, Winnie and others like her are
now able to increase their harvests, reduce losses, and
grow crops that meet both family needs and market
demand.
This program doesn't just improve their ability to grow food—it enables them to earn a better living. By learning value addition techniques, they are able to process and package their produce for higher returns, giving them a stronger position in local markets and a renewed sense of independence.
Thanks to this support, Winnie is now able to feed her children, keep them in school, and work toward a brighter future. Her story is one of resilience, transformation, and hope—and it reflects the impact this program continues to have on countless women striving for a better life through agriculture.
