Kazini Community Care SACCO
One of the biggest challenges young people face is lack of access to money to turn their dreams into real businesses. Many great ideas die before they start, simply because there is no funding to support them.
At first, our goal was to empower youth through sustainable agriculture. But we soon realized that without startup capital, empowerment alone was not enough. That’s how the idea of Kazini Community Care SACCO was born — a community-based savings and loan system to support the growth of youth-led businesses.
What We Do
Through this SACCO, we offer small loans to young people who have gone through our full Youth Empowerment Program and have promising business ideas or ongoing ventures.
How We Select and Support Loan Beneficiaries:
-
Training Completion
Youth must first complete our full empowerment cycle, which includes training in business, agriculture, innovation, and life skills. -
Business Plan Submission
After training, each participant submits a simple business plan explaining what they want to do, how much they need, and how they plan to repay the loan. -
Vetting and Assessment
A committee made up of SACCO leaders, trainers, and community representatives reviews the business plans. They look at:- Feasibility of the idea
- Commitment of the youth
- Potential for sustainability and community impact
-
Loan Approval and Disbursement
Once approved, the youth receives a loan in stages, based on their business needs. We also offer financial literacy training before disbursing funds. -
Ongoing Mentorship and Monitoring
After receiving the loan, the youth are assigned mentors who guide them as they grow their businesses. Regular follow-ups are done to ensure the money is used correctly and to support improvements. -
Repayment and Scaling
Youth repay the loans in small installments, and successful repayment opens up access to larger funding in the future.
